Mold

Mold is common in virtually every environment inhabited by humans, although they typically prefer dark, damp areas. Their spores can pose a health risk when their concentration is sufficiently high, especially when they contain mycotoxins. ARM Environmental Services has extensive experience and qualifications in performing inspection and abatement services related to molds.

Mold Identification and Assessment

Mold can cause a variety of health problems, especially respiratory symptoms such as itchy eyes and a runny nose. It typically thrives in cool, damp environments, so you can often find mold growing near plumbing leaks, HVAC ductwork and under sink fixtures.

ARM mold assessment services usually begin with a general inspection and survey of the property for the presence of mold. Depending on the results of this phase, it may also be necessary to take samples and conduct further testing on areas of concern as well as to measure background concentrations. Various organizations provide recommendations on this process, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). ARM staff members remain current on regulatory guidelines and requirements with regular training.

Mold Remediation

Mold Remediation

ARM’s mold remediation services are designed to reduce the level of mold in the environment to a normal level. Elimination of the existing mold is part of this process, which may include cleaning surfaces with detergent. Environmental conditions such as plumbing and building envelope leaks may also need to be corrected to prevent future growth. ARM also performs assessments after the remediation phase to ensure the mold levels are normal.
